PlaDuoPro Care Instructions
Dual plasma — nitrogen and argon. Everything you need to know before and after your treatment.
Before your treatment
Starting 5–7 days before
- Apply D|TOX Pre-Treatment Serum to clean skin morning and night. Let it dry completely — about 15–20 minutes — before layering anything over it.
- Keep your skin well moisturized. Hydrated skin tolerates plasma heat far better than dry skin.
- Stop retinoids and retinol, glycolic and salicylic acids, and any scrubs or exfoliating treatments.
In the 2 weeks before
- No sun exposure, tanning beds, or self-tanner. Arrive with your natural skin tone — a tan or a burn means we reschedule.
- No waxing, threading, or depilatory creams on the treatment area.
The day before and the day of
- Shave any fine facial hair in the treatment area. Fine hairs scorch during treatment and create soot.
- No alcohol for 24 hours.
- Arrive with completely clean skin — no makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer, or lotion.
- Eat beforehand and come well hydrated.
Please tell us before we begin
- Any history of cold sores or fever blisters — we will start you on an antiviral first.
- Isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last 6 months.
- Pregnancy, or if you may be pregnant.
- A pacemaker or any other implanted electronic device.
- Uncontrolled diabetes, systemic sclerosis, or any autoimmune condition.
- Immunosuppressive medication, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy.
- Any change in your medications since your last visit.
Plan your downtime. Lower-energy treatments leave little more than a few hours of pink. Higher-energy treatments peel: expect roughly 5–10 days before your skin is fully social again. Ask us which setting we are planning so you can book around it.
After your treatment
What to expect
- A moderate sting like a strong sunburn for the first few hours, and redness — called erythema — that is entirely normal.
- Swelling for a few days depending on depth. The exosomes we include reduce this considerably for most patients.
- By the next day the pain is usually gone, but skin can feel tight, dry, and itchy.
- No skin is removed during treatment, but the outer layer may peel or flake as it renews.
Your routine, step by step
- The evening of treatment: do not wash your face at all. Simply reapply Aquaphor.
- The next morning: wash gently with fingertips only, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. It may take several passes to lift the Aquaphor. Pat dry, apply RE|PAIR serum, let it absorb fully, then a thin layer of Aquaphor — reapplied through the day as needed.
- Cleanse only twice a day, morning and night. Continue this routine until peeling finishes, usually 3–5 days.
- Once peeling is complete: stop the Aquaphor. Switch to Cicalfate or another thick moisturizer applied over the RE|PAIR once it has dried.
Your recovery, day by day
- Days 1–2 — Redness, warmth, possible swelling. Sleep with your head elevated.
- Days 2–5 — Peeling or flaking. Skin comes away as you wash; it can be hard to see.
- Days 3–5 — With higher energy, skin may bronze before it flakes. This is expected.
- Week 2 onward — New skin is fragile. Uneven light and dark patches are normal and even out.
The one rule that matters most. Do not pick, scratch, or help the peeling along. Picking is how infections and scars happen. Let every flake come away on its own as you wash.
Managing symptoms
- Discomfort — an ice pack, or frozen peas in a zip-lock bag, plus Aleve or Advil as needed.
- Swelling — sleep elevated on pillows or in a recliner for 1–2 days, ice often on day one. Oral Benadryl helps; Advil PM contains it and aids sleep.
- Sun — avoid completely for 2–3 weeks, then SPF 30+ with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. This is what prevents dark patches as new skin meets daylight.
- Exercise and bathing — light activity is fine, no heavy sweating until day 5, no swimming for a week. Shower gently and pat dry.
- Shaving (men) — electric razor only for 2 weeks.
- Makeup — once flaking is complete.
