What we treat
Nerve testing (EMG and nerve conduction studies). Numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain shooting down an arm or leg. We test the nerves directly and tell you what is going on: carpal tunnel, a pinched nerve in the neck or back, neuropathy, or something else. Physician-performed, signed report the same day — 48 hours at the outside. From $350.
Headache and migraine care. A full hour with a neurologist to sort out what kind of headache you have and build a plan that fits your life. Preventive medication, in-office nerve blocks, and Botox for chronic migraine. New consultation $450.
General neurology consultation. Dizziness, tremor, memory concerns, numbness or weakness that has not been explained yet. A 60-minute visit with a physician, $450.
Who we see
We are a direct-pay neurology practice. You have probably been quoted a number no one can explain, or told the first opening is four months away. Here the price is on the page, the visit is with a physician, and you know what you will pay before you arrive.
You can be seen here if you have no health coverage, or if you have a commercial, employer or Covered California plan and choose to pay directly, for example to be seen sooner. This practice is not contracted with any health plan and does not bill insurance. If one of our physicians happens to be in your plan's network through a separate practice, we will schedule you with our other physician. If you have Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan, Dr. Anh Thu Tran Camana, who has opted out of Medicare, can see you for any service under a private agreement; Dr. Nguyen, who is enrolled in Medicare, sees Medicare patients only for services Medicare does not cover, such as reports and forms. If you have TRICARE or VA health care, Dr. Camana can see you on a direct-pay basis; TRICARE and the VA will not reimburse you. We are not able to see Medi-Cal patients, or injuries that are part of a workers' compensation or accident claim. If that is you, please check with your primary care physician and your insurance plan, who can point you to practices that accept your coverage.
How it works
- Call or book online. We confirm how you will be paying, answer any questions about your coverage, and find a time.
- Get your price in writing. Before your visit you receive a Good Faith Estimate of exactly what you will pay.
- Come in. You see a physician.
- Leave with a plan. A written treatment plan, or for nerve testing a signed report the same day, 48 hours at the outside, plus an itemized receipt.

Common questions
Why don't you bill insurance? Billing insurance means contracts, prior authorizations, and prices no one can quote you. We post our prices instead, and every patient pays the same posted price at the time of the visit.
I have private insurance. Can I pay cash instead of using it? Yes. This practice is not contracted with any health plan, so you may choose to pay directly for any service, for example to be seen sooner. If one of our physicians is in your plan's network through a separate practice, we will schedule you with our other physician. We do not bill your plan, and your plan may not reimburse you or count what you pay toward your deductible. You sign a short direct-pay agreement and receive a written estimate before your visit.
If I have insurance, why should I choose to pay cash? You don't have to, but many patients choose to. Some have had a procedure denied by their plan, or had an EMG recently and know a second one will not be approved. Some want a second opinion from experienced neurologists with subspecialty training. Others simply don't want to wait months to be seen. Booking is easy, and our transparent, competitive pricing takes the guesswork out of paying for medical care.
I have Medicare. Can I pay cash? Yes. Dr. Anh Thu Tran Camana has opted out of Medicare, so she can see patients with Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan for any service on a direct-pay basis. Before your first visit you sign a private contract with her acknowledging that Medicare, your Medicare Advantage plan and any Medigap policy will not be billed and will not reimburse you. Dr. Nguyen is enrolled in Medicare, so she can see Medicare patients on a direct-pay basis only for services Medicare does not cover, such as a narrative report for an attorney or disability claim; every Medicare-covered service, including one you expect Medicare to deny, is done by Dr. Camana. Call us and we will set you up with the right physician. We are not able to see Medi-Cal patients.
My insurance denied my EMG. Can I pay for it myself? Yes. If you have private insurance, no denial is needed: this practice is not in your plan's network, and you pay our posted price. If you have Medicare, we set you up with Dr. Camana under a private contract. Bring the denial letter either way.
My injury happened at work. Can I pay cash for an EMG? No. California law requires work-related injuries to be treated and billed through your employer's workers' compensation insurance, and providers may not accept payment from the patient for that care. We do not participate in workers' compensation, so we cannot perform testing for a work injury even if you are willing to pay for it yourself. Your employer, claims administrator or attorney can direct you to an authorized provider. The same applies to injuries that are part of a car-accident or other personal-injury claim.
Will you give me a superbill? No. We do not file claims or prepare superbills. You receive an itemized receipt and can request your records; if you send them to your plan on your own, we cannot predict what the plan will do.
Can I use my HSA or FSA card? Yes, for services that qualify. You receive an itemized receipt.
Do I need a referral? No. If another provider sent you for nerve testing, bring their order and notes.
What if something is urgent? A sudden worst-ever headache, new weakness, trouble speaking, or a fever with a stiff neck needs emergency care today. Go to the nearest ER.
