Four families. They do different jobs.
Neurotoxins stop lines caused by movement. Fillers replace volume you have lost. Biostimulators prompt you to rebuild your own. Rejuvenating treatments improve the quality of the tissue itself. Most people need one, some need two in combination, and working out which is most of what a good consultation is for.
Neuromodulators
Botox · Dysport · Xeomin · Jeuveau
For lines caused by movement
Neurotoxins temporarily relax the specific muscles that crease your skin when you frown, squint, or raise your brows. They have been used medically since the 1970s. Because they work on movement rather than volume, they soften the lines you already have and slow the ones forming underneath.
Commonly treated
- Frown lines between the brows
- Forehead lines
- Crow's feet
- Preventative treatment
Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic acid
For volume you have lost
Hyaluronic acid is a substance your skin already makes. Injected as a gel, it restores volume where age or genetics have taken it — lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds. Unlike neurotoxins, results are visible the moment you sit up, then refine over the following weeks as the filler settles.
Commonly treated
- Lips and lip definition
- Cheek and midface volume
- Jawline and chin contour
- Nasolabial folds
Biostimulators
Poly-L-lactic acid · Calcium hydroxylapatite
For volume you rebuild yourself
Biostimulators work differently from fillers. Rather than sitting in the tissue as a gel, they act as a scaffold that prompts your own body to lay down new collagen over the following months. Poly-L-lactic acid works gradually and diffusely, suiting broad areas of volume loss. Calcium hydroxylapatite gives more immediate structure alongside the collagen response. Results build slowly and tend to last longer than hyaluronic acid.
Commonly treated
- Broad midface and temple volume loss
- Skin thinning and crepiness
- Jawline and lower face support
- Longer-lasting structural volume
Rejuvenating Treatments
PRP · PRF · Exosome finishing
For the quality of the tissue itself
This group does not add volume or restrict movement — it works on how well your skin repairs itself. Cellenis Derma PRP concentrates the growth factors from your own blood. PRF is a second-generation preparation, spun without anticoagulant so the platelets sit in a fibrin matrix and release more slowly. Both are autologous, so compatibility is never a question. We also finish select microneedling and laser treatments with a topical exosome serum applied to freshly channelled skin.
Commonly treated
- Overall tone and firmness
- Under-eye texture and dark circles
- Acne scarring
- Thinning hair and scalp health
Watch the overviews
Injectables aren’t one thing. There are four families and they do genuinely different jobs. These two short films from Dr. Tran-Camana and Dr. Nguyen cover how they work in practice.

All injectables carry risk. Common effects include redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site, usually resolving within a few days. Rarely, more serious complications can occur, including infection, product migration, or vascular events. Exosome serums are used topically as a post-procedure finishing step and are not injected. These are physician-led treatments at Aurora MD, and we will review your medical history, medications, and goals before anything is injected.
Start with a consultation
Bring the thing that bothers you, not a product name. We will tell you whether it is a movement problem, a volume problem, or a skin-quality problem — and what actually addresses it.
