Cellenis Derma PRP Care Instructions
Platelet-rich plasma, concentrated from your own blood. Everything you need to know before and after your treatment.
Before your treatment
Two things make a PRP appointment go well: being well hydrated, and having nothing in your system that thins the blood or blunts the healing response.
One week before
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and anti-inflammatories where it is medically safe to do so — fish oil, vitamin E, high-dose ibuprofen, aspirin. Never stop a prescribed medication without your physician's approval.
- Pause retinoids, AHAs and BHAs on the treatment area.
Forty-eight hours before
- No alcohol.
- Start drinking more water than usual — it makes the blood draw easier and more comfortable.
On the day
- Arrive well hydrated. This genuinely matters for the draw.
- Eat a proper meal beforehand — do not come on an empty stomach.
- Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the treatment area.
- Tell us if you have ever felt faint during a blood draw so we can position you accordingly.
Please tell us before we begin
- Blood clotting disorders or anticoagulant therapy
- Active infection, local or systemic
- Recent illness or fever
- Blood-borne conditions
- Platelet or bone marrow disorders
- Active cancer or ongoing cancer treatment
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- History of fainting during blood draws
- Active skin infection at the treatment site
PRP uses your own blood, so your general health on the day affects the result. If you are unwell, tell us — we would rather move your appointment. If you are unsure about a health condition or medication, speak to your physician.
Plan your downtime. Expect mild redness, swelling or occasional light bruising, usually resolving within 24 to 48 hours. Under-eye and scalp areas bruise more readily than cheeks. Most clients see the best results from a series of two to three sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart, with maintenance every six to twelve months.
After your treatment
For the first 24 hours
- No makeup on the treated area.
- No heat — saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga or very hot showers.
- No strenuous exercise.
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated if we treated the under-eye area.
For several days
- Postpone active skincare ingredients — retinoids, AHAs and BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, scrubs.
- Wear sunscreen daily.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen for three days unless we have told you otherwise. It can work against the healing response PRP is designed to trigger. Paracetamol or acetaminophen is fine.
- If we treated your scalp, leave your hair unwashed until the following morning.
Your post-treatment routine
Keep it simple while the area settles.
- Cleanse — a gentle, non-foaming cleanser
- Serum — a plain hyaluronic acid serum
- Repair — a bland barrier moisturiser
- Protect — a mineral tinted SPF 30 or higher
Call or text us right away if
- swelling or bruising is worsening rather than settling after 48 hours.
- you develop spreading redness, warmth, pus or fever — these are signs of infection and we want to know straight away.
- you feel unwell in the hours after your appointment.
General guidance only; it does not replace the advice your practitioner gives you. If you are unsure about a health condition or medication, speak to your physician. For any isolated adverse reaction, seek medical assistance.
